Out of Hours is defined as all times after 6.30 pm and before 8.00 am on weekdays, over weekends and during bank holidays

Prior to 15th November 2004, the Practice was responsible for providing health care to patients registered with the practice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, on that day the new GP contract transferred responsibility for the out of hours care to Knowsley Primary Care Trusts. On 1/04/13 this responsibility passed to Knowsley CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) when it replaced the PCT. The CCG uses NHS 111 as a point of contact for out of hours calls and provides walk in centres as detailed below:

NHS 111 is now the point of contact for all non emergency out of hours queries.  It replaced the previousl available NHS Direct and the CCG's Urgent Care 24 in October 2015. You can contact NHS 111 at any time, it is available in hours as well as out of hours.

NHS 111 can be accessed by dialling 111 from any phone. Calls from landlines and mobiles are free 24 hours a day.

 You should use the NHS 111 service if:
     you need medical help fast, but it is not a 999 emergency
     you think you need to go to A&E or Emergency Department or another NHS urgent care service
     you dont know who to call for medical help
     you require health information or reassurance of what to do next

You will get you through to a team of highly trained advisors who are supported by experienced nurses. They will assess your symptoms, give you health care advice if you need it or book you an appointment.

Walk in Centres
Another useful resource for you to use is one of the local Walk in Centres

Walk in centres are NHS Nurse led services which provide treatment for minor ailments and injuries, health promotion and self help advice without the need for an appointment.
